About the sources, missing measurements and JOYO’s own shoes
What this is: an honest, side-by-side index of 30 kids barefoot shoes — 14 from Joyo and 16 from 13 other barefoot brands (Vivobarefoot, Xero, Wildling, Be Lenka, Bobux, Froddo, and more). We built it so a parent can compare on the things that actually matter for a growing foot: zero drop, toe-box shape, closure, width options, washability, sizing, and price.

How honest is this? We do not physically test or measure these shoes. The numeric specs here (sole thickness, weight, price) are compiled from manufacturer specifications and published independent reviews, and each of those figures links to its source. Product-family descriptors such as size range, closure and width options come from each brand’s own product listing. Where a number simply isn't published anywhere we could find it, we show a dash (—) instead of guessing. That includes us: a lot of Joyo's own numeric specs aren't published either, and the table says so. Read exactly how we compile this index →
Disclosure: Joyo sells 14 of the shoes listed below. We've kept the competitor coverage real and named where other brands win.
A note on numbers: barefoot-shoe specs are genuinely sparse across the whole market. Sole thickness is published for only 10 of 30 shoes, weight for 3 of 30, and none of the sources we indexed publish toe-box width as a real measurement. So the main grid below leads with the things that are well documented.
Sole measurements are not always directly comparable: an outsole measurement may exclude the insole or lugs. Check each source and model version before treating a smaller number as a thinner complete shoe.
