How We Compile the Kids Barefoot Shoe Index

Our comparisons organize published information so you can build a shopping shortlist. JOYO sells children's shoes and includes some of them in the kids' index. That commercial interest is part of how readers should assess our work.

Method reviewed September 16, 2026. The approach applies to our women, kids and work-footwear guides; the fields and source coverage differ by guide.

What we compile

We use manufacturer and retailer pages for specifications, size guidance and model or collection destinations. Some existing entries also cite independent reviews. Those are a reviewer's observations, not JOYO test results. We do not claim to have worn, weighed or clinically tested every listed shoe.

Read the source alongside the value. A collection page can cover several models with different features. It cannot establish one shared drop, width, safety rating or fit for the entire range.

How to interpret a field

• Heel-to-toe drop: the difference between heel and forefoot height. Zero drop alone does not establish a thin sole or a particular degree of flexibility.
• Sole measurements: outsole, lugs, base and removable insole may be reported separately. A component value is not total stack height; do not add components unless their relationship is established by the source.
• Weight: record the source's size and whether the value describes one shoe or a pair. Values without matching size and method are not directly comparable.
• Width and fit: a width option, a description such as “wide,” an insole width and internal toe-box width are different information. None alone guarantees fit.
• Size: keep recommended foot length separate from internal shoe length and size labels. Follow the model's chart instructions rather than adding one universal allowance.
• Price and availability: a recorded price is a dated regional observation, not a live offer. Check the retailer for current size, currency, shipping and returns.

Unknown values and conflicting sources

A dash or unknown value means that the entry does not establish the information. It does not mean zero, a poor result or proof that no measurement exists anywhere. Ask the brand about information needed for your decision.

If sources disagree, first check the model generation, size, region and measurement definition. A reviewer measurement is not automatically comparable with a manufacturer specification. Retain the distinction or leave the result unresolved rather than presenting an unsupported precise number.

What our comparisons cannot establish

We do not assign clinical suitability from a footwear label, promise injury prevention, or rank a shoe as a treatment for a child's condition. Follow individual clinical advice where applicable. Work-footwear protection must be checked for the exact model and workplace requirements; the guide does not certify compliance.

Filters and editorial notes organize shopping information. They are not laboratory rankings, independent wear tests or guarantees that the suggested pair will fit.

Updates and corrections

Guides can change as a source, model or destination changes. Consult the dates and limitations on the individual guide or data release. A review date does not mean every retailer has current stock or that every field was independently remeasured.

To report an error, contact JOYO with the guide URL, exact model, disputed field and a source link. We can check the evidence without treating an unsupported claim as a corrected specification.

Commercial disclosure

JOYO publishes these guides and sells its own children's shoes. Competitor links currently earn no affiliate commission. A retailer link is not proof of a partnership, endorsement or purchase. Future compensated links must be identified when introduced; historical clicks do not establish commission entitlement.

Reusable data and citations

The public shoe-specification dataset is a versioned subset with source dates, limitations and licensing. It does not mirror every live guide entry. Cite a release and the underlying source when reusing a value, and keep component measurements separate from whole-shoe specifications.
