Vivobarefoot vs Be Lenka Kids: Fit & Fastening

Two children running across a sunlit park

Choosing between Vivobarefoot and Be Lenka for a child? Start with the exact fastening and size chart. This comparison uses Primus Sport IV Kids and Luppo Kids in All Black. It does not transfer specifications from their separate toddler, preschool or junior versions.

Research-based comparison. JOYO has not worn, measured or durability-tested these models. This is an editorial assessment of published information, not a hands-on test. Links currently earn no affiliate commission. JOYO also sells its own children’s shoes.

Our decision: investigate Primus Sport IV Kids if its fastening and mesh construction suit your child. Investigate Luppo Kids if a knit slip-on is the goal. The key sizing difference is that Luppo publishes internal length and width and gives a model-specific instruction about extra toe room. Do not add a generic allowance without reading it.

The Luppo chart: why the allowance instruction matters

The checked Luppo page says its chart measures internal length and width and advises against the usual added toe room for this roomier style. That is a model-specific instruction, not a rule for every Be Lenka shoe.

Record both feet before shopping. Keep foot measurements in one column and the retailer’s shoe measurements in another. If the instructions leave you unsure, send the measurements and ask which size they recommend. Do not subtract or add a fixed number simply because a different barefoot guide says to.

For Vivo, keep the correct Kids version open while checking its guide. The same family name on a toddler listing is not enough to establish the same construction or size range. Our kids’ size-label guide explains why an EU label alone cannot solve this.

Slip-on independence or adjustable fastening?

Ask your child to try putting the shoe on and taking it off. Then look for heel movement and pressure over the instep. A slip-on may simplify dressing for one child and be hard to pull over another child’s foot. An adjustable closure only helps if the child can tolerate and operate it.

We have not tested either shoe for seams, sensory comfort or how securely it stays on during play. For children with particular preferences, use our sensory fit questions to decide what needs checking in person.

School and weather checks

An all-black colour does not establish that a shoe meets your school’s rules. Check permitted fastening, materials and PE requirements. Likewise, knit or mesh does not establish waterproofing. If wet playground use is essential, get an explicit specification for the selected pair.

Compare the delivered price in your own country and keep the return conditions available for the indoor try-on. Avoid assuming that a retailer will accept outdoor-worn shoes simply because another retailer offers a trial.

How this relates to our kids’ index

The 30-entry kids’ index includes other Vivo and Be Lenka entries. This article adds a separate model comparison; it does not silently replace the toddler specification with the Kids version or claim that Luppo has been measured by JOYO.

Common questions

Is Be Lenka wider than Vivobarefoot for kids?

We cannot rank the two brands from matched internal-width measurements. Luppo’s chart supplies width data, but that is not a like-for-like width test against the Vivo model.

Should I add the same growing room to both?

No universal allowance is established here. Follow each exact model’s instructions; Luppo’s checked page has a specific roomier-fit instruction.

Are these the toddler versions?

No. This comparison covers Primus Sport IV Kids and Luppo Kids. Follow the manufacturer’s separate listings for other age/size ranges.
